Wedding Style

Bridal jewelry has the power to completely elevate your wedding outfit. It is how you accessorize that pulls the ensemble together and makes the dress belong to the bride. Two brides could be wearing the same dress but how they are accessorized, sets them apart. The jewelry you wear on your wedding day showcases your personality and adds the personal touch to your look. It can be daunting to choose the perfect wedding jewelry for the special day but there are some guidelines that can help make the decision process a little bit easier.

Some things to keep in mind while buying your wedding jewelry is that your engagement ring and wedding band are meant to be worn every day. So, while choosing an ornate and fancy ring might suit the occasion or your dress, it might not work for an everyday look. You will want an engagement ring that suits your personality and your style on an everyday basis and not just for that one day. Also, when you pick your wedding jewelry, you rather choose versatile and classis designs that can be worn again and again.

That doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun mixing and matching pieces of different metals and cuts but overall, all the pieces should go together and be a part of one ensemble. For example, an ornate antique pair of pearl earrings might not be the best choice to go with if your engagement ring has a modern finish and design to it. However, you can mix metals like a gold banded engagement ring with an infinity platinum or white gold ring. The main diamond in your engagement ring can be round but doesn’t mean you can’t pair it with emerald or cushion cut studs. You could even choose the trendier ‘toi et moi’ ring with two main stones and mix and match a wedding band with it.

It's important to really be true to your genuine style in choosing your jewelry then you can mix and match with ease if you want to repeat the earrings to a dinner party or someone else’s wedding with the engagement ring and wedding band being worn almost every day. Wedding styling, engagement rings and day to day jewelry of course have trends, but do not force yourself to buy jewelry that doesn’t resonate with your personal style just because it is in trend. It is important to love these pieces and imagine wearing them years ahead. The trend will not last as long as the photos do. Thus, it’s more important to make decisions based on personal style and sentimental reasons. You also should try and make sure to choose your jewelry to your style and not because your mother or mother-in-law thinks you should wear it.

In any outfit, a lot of everything can’t be a good thing. Same goes for your wedding outfit. If you dress is heavily embellished then the jewelry can be toned down to stud earrings, a simple watch, engagement ring and simpler veil. If the dress is simple, then a moderately fancy veil and statement earrings might go super well with it. There has to be a strong focal point and then the rest of the accessories and parts of the ensemble need to compliment that focal point then. If you’d like to switch looks between the wedding and reception that can also be a possibility by changing up the jewelry. For example, in the wedding you might wear a longer wedding dress with a veil and classic jewelry but for the reception you might choose a shorter white dress or one of those dress that you can remove the skirt below to reveal a shorter dress, remove the veil, change your hair and wear some heavier jewelry. So, a bride can go from royal to glam just like that.

These are definitely some guidelines I would follow, coming from personal experience.
