Octavia

Octavia draws upon the ancient geometry of the octagon, a form that has appeared across sacred architecture and ornament for centuries.

In Byzantine and Islamic architecture, the octagon often occupies the space between the square and the circle—mediating between the earthly geometry of the structure below and the celestial form of the dome above. It became a geometry of transition: a passage between earth and heaven.

For Nue, the octagon embodies this meeting of opposites: the earthly and the celestial, structure and softness, permanence and change. Its geometry is precise, yet when repeated and softened in gold, it takes on rhythm and movement.

We return to the octagon because it connects the language of architecture to the scale of the body, and the visual memory of the past to objects made for the present. Repeated throughout the collection, it has become one of Nue's defining forms.
