Materials

Gold

Gold has been worked, worn, inherited, melted and made again for thousands of years.

At Nue, we work exclusively with recycled 18k gold, allowing a material that already exists in the world to take on another form. Whenever possible, we can also transform a client's own gold into a new piece, preserving the material while giving it a new life.

There is something inherently meaningful to us about this continuity. Gold does not need to remain what it once was. It can be melted and remade, carrying its past invisibly into its next incarnation.

Material becomes object. Object becomes memory. And, in time, begins again.

Materials

Diamonds

We work exclusively with natural diamonds.

Formed deep within the earth over immense stretches of geological time, every natural diamond carries within it a history that began long before us. Their individual character—their inclusions, proportions and subtle irregularities—is part of what draws us to them.

Our roots lie in the world of diamonds. Drawing on generations of knowledge and longstanding relationships within the trade, we select each stone individually, with particular attention to beauty, character and provenance.

For us, a diamond is not simply a material. It is an object shaped by time, chosen to accompany another life through time.

Materials

Found Objects

Some objects arrive with their history already written.

We source ancient coins individually from specialist dealers and auction houses around the world, drawn to objects that have survived centuries of exchange, movement and human touch. Their worn surfaces, irregular edges and imperfect strikes are not restored or altered. They are evidence of the lives these objects have already lived.

No two are quite alike. Their age, rarity, provenance and condition make each one inherently individual.

When incorporated into a Nue piece, we try to intervene as little as possible—creating a new setting for the object without erasing what came before.

We do not seek to make the past new again. We make space for it to continue.

Craft

Jewelry is one of humanity's oldest forms of making.

For thousands of years, goldsmiths have shaped precious materials by hand—cutting, forming, soldering, setting and finishing objects intended to be worn close to the body. The tools have evolved, but the intimacy of the process remains.

Every Nue piece is made by hand by skilled artisans. Rather than removing the trace of the maker, we embrace the subtle irregularities and surfaces that reveal how an object was formed.

Our brushed gold, softened geometries and hand-finished details are intentionally tactile. They are designed not to remain pristine, but to acquire the marks of being worn.

Because we believe jewelry becomes more beautiful when life begins to leave its trace upon it.
